Govt to consider RM100 aid for Form Six students

The Government will study whether the RM 100 allowance given to students up to form five should be extended to sixth formers as well, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.
"We will see whether it is justified," he said, acknowledging that the form 6 and pre-university students were getting a RM 200 book voucher.
Muhyiddin who is also Education Minister, was speaking at a media conference after a session with the people at SK Machang Dua here Wednesday.
He also urged private religious school to register with the Education Department's Islamic education unit to enable their students to also receive RM 100 alowance.
The RM 100 aid was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak when he tabled Budget 2012 on Oct 7.
He said it was given to help ease the burden of parents.

In my opinion, he Rm 100 aid will really help to ease the burden of parents especially to the lower income family. But the Ministry of Education must ensure that the students that are going to receive the Rm 100 aid come from lower income family. What happen now is that most of the students nowadays will misuse the aid given by the government. As an example they will spend the money wrongly like enjoying themselves in computer centres, buying cigarettes rather than spending on study expenses. In order to avoid this aid given by government wasted, Ministry of Education must make that the aid is given to the students who really need it.
